Lucy Sondo

Lucy Sondo is the founding partner of Abenry Advocates since 2005. She worked as State Attorney and Parliamentary Draftsman at the Attorney General’s office for twelve years before joining Mkono & Co Advocates (1997-2005). She was also a Partner with Adept Chambers for two years (2010 -2011).

Lucy is an expert in, amongst others, projects & project financing, Public Private Partnerships, Mergers & Acquisitions, capital markets, energy related work and corporate law in general. She is also an expert in carrying out legal due diligence and drafting transactional documents and legislation.

Lucy has constantly been rated in Chambers Global “The World’s Leading Lawyers for Business”, as one of the best lawyers in Tanzania. In the 2013 Chambers and Partners Rating, Lucy has been described as a corporate lawyer rated for her regulatory experience as well as her expertise in banking matters. Lucy has been described in Chambers Global 2015 as a person who is “widely praised for her “strong commitment to delivery for clients, and valuable experience” in energy, regulatory and capital markets matters. Lucy has participated in negotiations and contracting discussions.   She has been advising governments, commercial and investment and commercial banks, insurance companies, broker-dealers asset managers financing securities and derivative markets and drafting and negotiating and appropriate documents.  Lucy has been at the centre of rendering legal advice to both local and foreign investors.  She has been involved in launching various projects which benefited under the Investment Act and have practically obtained investment certificates for various banks, mining companies and other investors in different sectors.
